Story of the Day: The Washing of Feet

Image
The Washing of Feet As Lamir was either taking his small meal of fig leaves and tea at this time or delighting in Hinnia’s perfection, Ladrei thought it advisable to enter first and announce their call. He did show a presentiment for interrupting his highness during the more comforting portion of the evening, and while he was used to see Lamir in rapturous bliss- as much as his austere character could express- Ladrei had held some remorse for the disturbance, though Hinnia was ordered never to cease their session unless Lamir should demand it. He had almost expect to find his prince in the midst of tasting his succulent attendant, but upon entering the main room of the royal chambers, he discovered a very different style of enjoyment.                 There, sitting in his chair by the balcony was Prince Lamir, and sitting at his side was Hinnia. His feet were soaking in a basin of steam water, and she was...

Story for the Day: The Leader of Lucentia

In honour of the new art Twisk is finishing for book 8, here is a small piece from the book and the portrait of Prince Lamir she just finished. Enjoy. He stood out from the basin and dried himself by baking in the rays of the morning sun. He was given a dry cloth in which he might continue his ceremonious desiccation but there was no need. He only wished to be dressed and be gone from his chambers as soon as was possible. He ordered his attendant to bring him the clothes on his stand beside the bed, and as he placed his numerous, thick-banned rings on his fingers, she assisted him in donning the remainder of his garments. His waist sash was tied, his surcoat adjusted, and he turned to regard her work in the mirror opposing the bed as she stood to the side aspiring to have done everything with the correctness he should have liked.                 While Lamir was assessing himself, the attendant gathered the pr...

Story of the Day: An Evening’s Entertainment

Here is a little from book 8. Enjoy.  An Evening’s Entertainment                 Ladrei and Iraiya walked across the courtyard to the marble staircase and followed the prince and his attendant into the royal chambers. Tea was directly gotten and as the men sat at the table, the two women fluttered about in silent duty as they prepared a small meal for their masters. The prince and the guildlord were soon discussing matters of business, and the women took more pleasure in speaking low to one another than to hearing their lords restate their affairs. Lamir spoke of his recent request to the Haanta to negotiate and reinstate the borders of Old Lucentia and Ladrei explained away his new ownership of the largest cafe in the district. Their conversation was attended to by the two women while they poured fresh tea and placed their meal of grapeseed oil and fig leaves before their masters, but more heartwarming th...

Lamir and Hinnia

Prince Lamir Elladrin has an attendant he very much adores. Here is a small piece from book 11 to tide you over until the story of the day is posted: He could bear the separation no longer. Soon he would be forced to be parted from her while attending the garrison for a ceremony which required his attention at noon and here he had spent the chief of the morning without her when he had been used to pass the morning hours performing simple administrative duties in the quietness of his room with her sitting at his feet, pouring his tea, massaging his hands when they tired of writing, replacing his sandals, bringing him his inks and quills, tying back the hanging silks when there was a cool breeze for them to share. He had passed an excellent morning in acquainting himself with one whom he hoped in time would be as intimate with him as Ladrei had been, but in so doing had missed his favourite part of the day. “Hinnia,” Lamir called to her. She turned toward him and waited expectantly ...
