Story of the day: The Beer Hall

Image
Twisk is going to have to make a picture of Aiden and Adaoire.  The Beer Hall                  Taverns in Gallei went by a different classification: beer halls were the object of choice for those Galleisians wishing to clench their thirst. They were called as such due to their purveyances. Little else beyond a house meal and ale was served, there were only a few rooms in the upstairs where those who were too inebriated to wander home could find rest, and altogether the crudeness of the beer halls was considered too unwholesome for the delicate pleasures of genteel women.                 When the party entered one such establishment, they were surprised to find no women at the tables beyond a serving wench or two flitting around the drunken crowds. All the men in the hall were older and there was not one solider in regimentals among them. They assumed that this was due to the Galleisian sense of propriety, as every young person of marriageable age was expected to attend Church at t

Story for the Day: The Parcel

Image
The Parcel                          The Den Asaan had been the first one awake, as he had been used to practice his meditations at sunrise. He was in the midst of reiterating his passages when he heard the din of light footfalls emanating from the stairway just beyond the door to the main room. His pointed ears switched, his closed eyes cracked open. He was tempted to finish droning his scriptures and was disposed to believe that the sounds of those in the castle coming and going would a customary occurrence during his residency, but when he considered that the commons were the only set of apartments on the floor, he became cautious as to who their visitor could be at this time in the morning. He heard the shuffling footsteps stop outside the door and now he must look to see who dared infiltrate his home.                 Rautu came to his knees from his sitting position and placed his trappings around his shoulders to dampen any sound he would make while approaching the door. He doused

Story for the Day: Caught

Image
Caught                  The expedition to Karnwyl was called and Teague, Nerri, Connors and Mureadh were to attend the royal party with their respective regiments. They were all to convene at the main gate before sunrise and set out along the Southern Road toward Sethshire. They were expected to be in Karnwyl the following day, and as their destination was Mureadh’s home, the captain of the guard thought to ask his sister to travel with them.                 He supposed Qwynlin would be just as desirous of seeing their many siblings as he was himself. She would be forced to close the toy shoppe for a few days but she was doing so well at her new business that he reckoned the few days she would be gone would not signify in the least. If her sales would not dampen then neither would her spirits, and she would be pleased to join the royal party and be surrounded by the armed forces for a day or two. With this assumption in mind, Mureadh traveled toward the residential quarter, ready to

Story for the Day: The Pond

Image
Here is a tiny excerpt from book 12: The Pond Sheamas was overjoyed to have his nephew left to him. He asked the little fur-clad creature if he enjoyed his time on the farm and though the answer he was given was a mere and decided yes, the lack of shoes and absconded shirt expressed the extent of the child’s enjoyment and ease. They watched Hathanta and Rautu perform the Amghari movement meditations for some time until Soledhan broached his desire of seeing the pond. Sheamas placed Soledhan onto his broad shoulders and they walked together to the easternmost part of the farmstead to see the small fishpond. It was formed by rainwater collecting in a ditch along the road and over time, some of the field frogs had laid their eggs along the water’s surface, giving life to the small pool. A few fish were added to it and it had bloomed into a haven for aquatic and amphibious beings alike. When they came to the edge of the pond, Sheamas took Soledhan from his shoulders and sat with him
