Story for the Day: Kai Linaa's Morning

Image
Kai Linaa's Morning                 The following morning, Kai Linaa set out to perform her tasks along the shore, but it would be a difficult office to fulfill; her mind was aflutter with what had passed the night before. As she went to the garden well and filled her waterskin, his face was everywhere. She saw him in the trees, perceived his voice on the wind, turned about once or twice in hopes of catching him sneaking upon her, could not wait to be thrown over by him in surprise, looked down into the well waters to see if he were standing behind her from above, but all this was fancy. He could not be there now, for his training and his teaching had called him away. He had even told her so, but she would not believe it. She would rather have him forever hovering near her, waiting to thrill her with a hunt and a capture, but she must own that work must be done, and she therefore left the garden with the since...

Cake on Sanhedhran

Sweets in general are a rarity on the islands. There are cakes called Atassna made for Ataas Traala ceremonies but these are not as sweet cakes we have here. Cake, however, has been on the islands once. A tradesman from Lucentia had brought cake to the islands claiming that it was a valuable commodity on the mainland. After tasting it, Unghaahi disagreed and asked that it never again be brought to the islands. Rautu lamented this day as the day the islands lost all hope of ever having the glories of chocolate cake (no other cake is acceptable) ever revisit their shores. Kai Linaa, as a convert, has been doing fairly well in her powers of resisting temptation. I, however, feel for her now that she's living on the islands, and since I'm a good friend, I send my love in cake. Today's cake of choice was homemade brownies. You can see Rautu infiltrating from the corner.

Sanhedhran

The gentle salutation of Kodh...
